Acupuncture is a holistic treatment wherein thin needles are inserted at specific points of the body. This form of treatment has roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and operates with the idea that every form of illness is caused by an energy imbalance in the human body. Our clinic's gentle approach to acupuncture specifically addresses imbalances unique to your health. Effective for treatment of pain (acute and chronic), sciatica, arthritis, headaches, digestive problems, abdominal problems, among many other common conditions.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body. It is a key component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It is used most commonly for pain relief, though it is also used to treat a wide range of conditions. The majority of people who seek out acupuncture do so for musculoskeletal problems, including low back pain, shoulder stiffness, and knee pain.

Acupuncture is generally used in combination with other forms of treatment. For example, American Society of Anesthesiologists states it may be considered in the treatment for nonspecific, noninflammatory low back pain in conjunction with conventional therapy.

How does it work?

Acupuncture is an ancient, safe and effective alternative to medication and, in some cases, surgery. It stimulates the release of endorphins – the body’s natural pain-relieving neurohormones – through the insertion of needles into specific anatomical points (acupuncture points) to encourage natural healing. Therapeutic effects include:

  • Pain relief
  • Increased energy
  • Improved mood
  • Improved body function
